On February 12, 2025, the Suffolk County Medical Society and the Suffolk Academy of Medicine hosted the Galentine’s Women’s Health Fair at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, NY. This dynamic and well-attended event brought together independent medical practices and major hospital systems across Long Island to highlight key aspects of women’s health, including cardiovascular health, breast cancer screening, and osteoporosis management.
Spine Medicine & Surgery of Long Island was honored to be part of this important initiative. Our interventional pain management specialist, Dr. Antigone Argyriou, delivered a compelling presentation on the treatment of compression fractures in osteoporosis, a condition that disproportionately affects women. She emphasized risk factors, prevention strategies, and the latest advancements in care—empowering attendees with the knowledge to take charge of their bone health. From the importance of bone density screenings to lifestyle modifications like nutrition, exercise, and fall prevention, Dr. Argyriou’s insights resonated deeply with the audience.
The evening was a wonderful blend of education, networking, and community engagement, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Long Island Aquarium. Events like these highlight the power of collaboration in advancing healthcare education and patient advocacy.
A special thank you to Nicole Gerberg, Executive Director of the Suffolk County Medical Society, for organizing such a meaningful and impactful event. We look forward to continuing to support initiatives that promote awareness, education, and proactive healthcare for women.
Strong bones, strong women!
